Henry Buckton is a best-selling social historian who has also written plays and stories for children. His previous history books include Yesterday's Country Village, which examines rural life in Britain from 1900 to 1960, and Friendly Invasion: The American Occupation of Britain 1942-1945, which explores the relationships forged between the British public and American servicemen during the Second World War. A former member of No. 4626 (County of Wiltshire) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, his military training included time spent on Salisbury Plain.
