Autorenporträt
Dr. Julio Mayol es catedrático de cirugía de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y jefe de sección de cirugía en el Hospital Clínico San Carlos, donde fue director médico entre 2016 y 2023. Se formó como cirujano en España (Universidad Complutense y Hospital Clínico San Carlos) y en Estados Unidos (Harvard Medical School y Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center). Dirigió la Unidad de Innovación del Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria San Carlos (IdSSC) hasta 2023 y actualmente es patrono y vicepresidente de la Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica San Carlos. Es académico de la Real Academia Nacional de Medicina de España, miembro honorario de la Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) y miembro honorario internacional del Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiőes (CBC).
