The definitive collection of San Francisco's odd, wacky, and most offbeat people, places, and things, for San Francisco residents and anyone else who enjoys local humor and trivia with a twist.
Your round-trip ticket to the wildest, wackiest, most outrageous people, places, and thingsSan Francisco has to offer! Whether you're a born-and-raised San Franciscan, a recent transplant, or just passing through, San Francisco Curiosities will have you laughing out loud as Saul Rubin takes you on a rollicking tour of the strangest sides of the City by the Bay. ¿ Catch a ride on the world's longest-running vintage streetcar line in daily service, and get an entertaining earful of clangs at a contest to determine the city's best cable car bell ringer.¿ Learn how San Franciscans swooned over Swoops, a blackbird that dive-bombed passersby in summer 2009 to protect its nest.¿ Visit a "national forest" in an alley of a downtrodden neighborhood, and a Tiki bar where it rains inside.¿ Get a feel for the Tactile Dome, a world of darkness full of maze-like pathways and different shapes, textures, and temperatures.
