The Santals, being one of the important indigenous group of India and Bangladesh are studied mostly on the perspective of ethnology and the process of acculturation. This book, possibly is the first one to depict the pattern of psychiatric illness among the Santals which in fact is an approach overlapping environmental psychology, psychiatric anthropology and cultural psychiatry. In this regard the researcher made a scholarly approach in translating the suffering of one of the ethnic minorities of our globe, which often remain unaddressed. This is a book we should all be reading.
