Patty "Cakes" McWilliams was born in Central Texas and grew up in a family of storytellers. She has written three books for adults, Blue Buttons and Red Tomatoes, Belly Buttons: Lifelines from my Brother, and Color Me Pink, as well as three children's books, Abigail and Rumpus the Green Dinosaur, Thomas's Little Light, and Mia and the Missionaries.
