Today, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image despeckling is one of the most challenging and crucial task in the field of satellite imagery. Due to the random constructive and destructive interference caused because of consistent interaction of high frequency electromagnetic radio waves, the undesired speckle noise appears in SAR images. This noise is multiplicative in nature and inherently exists in the SAR image. The presence of noise is one of the main factors to degrade the visual quality of the SAR images. Because of the image degradation, the experts are not able to identify the correct information from the SAR images like information that gathered for detecting and tracking ships, ocean wave forecasting, agricultural monitoring, military system, assessment of damages after flood and earthquake is acquired through SAR images etc. Therefore, this book examines the basics of SAR image, problems related to SAR image specifically speckle noise and methods for speckle reduction inSAR images while preserving their main structures. The objective of work is to enhance the overall performance of the degraded image without loss of fine details or texture of the SAR images.
