The newly offered son of the family is older and had loved deeply before, but even after her death he had remained single and chaste... uninterested in anyone despite his many offers. Sara being short of patience after her first attempt at marriage gives Jack few chances to win her over. After missing her at the airport and a few errant calls, he finally catches up with her on a train, escaping Italy and his grasp. Jack is able to convince her that he has punished those who tried to put a wedge between them. She forgives him enough to allow them to explore whether they could work as a married couple, as they're both well matched in all other aspects. Jack quickly decides that Sarah seems to be a balm for his broken heart, but they are faced with those who like to force his hand into a different marriage. So they are delayed in making the marriage official. Sarah decides Jack is worth fighting for, and after being allowed to leave the country by the Italian authorities, they return to the town he grew up in, and they both face the ghosts from their past in order to have a bright future together, with the new friends they have made along the way.
