Michael J. Makley is the author of several studies of Nevada history, including most recently Cave Rock: Climbers, Courts, and a Washoe Indian Sacred Place (coauthored with Matthew Makley) and A Short History of Lake Tahoe. He divides his time between Denver and the Eastern Sierra.
