The book presents the results of studies conducted by the Author throughout the recent dozen years on the role of SBS in shaping the structure and thermo-mechanical properties of bitumen used in waterproofing materials. Chapters 1 to 4 present selected methods of modifying the rheological properties of bitumen and theoretical basis for the selection of bitumen and SBS in waterproofing products. The study shows the current trends in the development of the basic waterproofing material used in building construction polymer modified membrane. In Chapters 5 to 11, based on the results of laboratory tests, a comprehensive assessment is presented of the impact of the colloidal structure, chemical and group composition of bitumens and the content of polymer modifier SBS on thermo-mechanical characteristics of bitumens. The study includes a comparison of the scope and intensity of the modifying influence of SBS elastomer on popular soft bitumen 40/175 and 160/220.
