To get what she wants, Ruth has a knack for airing other folks' dirty laundry. Inspired by true events, this sinister novella involves a white guidance counselor (Ruth Banner) at Riverside High, and Carlos Jones, a student-athlete, and self-proclaimed bad-boy. With Carlos' assistance, Ruth, orchestrates a half-witted plot to become the embattled school's new principal. But her nefarious plan is cut short after learning that the recently vacated position is being filled by Diana Meeks, a young, energetic, and headstrong African-American female, who, ironically was recruited by the outgoing principal, Dr. Lanier. Ruth is devastated. Her nurturing reputation with the students of Riverside, along with her family's strong social and political ties to the community, and not to mention the sure certainty that she and Carlos have successfully neutralized any competition, all help to fuel Ruth's confidence that she will become the obvious choice to replace Dr. Lanier, who, suspiciously announces that he is retiring after a thirty-year tenure. The sequence of events sets the scene for explosive drama, teetering along the lines of race, class and sex, while threatening to expose some of the school's most sordid secrets.

Autorenporträt
Demetrius Smith is a fearless and talented truck driver, author, producer and screenwriter with a flair for drama and dialogue. After a few years of driving while working carefully on a script, he completed his first dramatic screenplay(webisode). He is proud to say that many of his scripts were written in the sleeper of his truck. Writing has been a passion of his since middle-school. Unfortunately, for many years, as is the case for struggling writers, writing had to take a back seat to his need to work and provide for himself and his family. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Demetrius grew up in Riverside South Memphis, and his present screenplay ingeniously puts a spotlight on that community, where he attended public school and graduated from George Washington Carver High School. Right out of high school, Demetrius joined the Marine Corp, his first time away from home. Within 2 years, he was meritoriously promoted to Corporal and served in Japan, Somalia and other high profile countries. In no time, his interactions with the indigenous people and his travels greatly encouraged Demetrius' writing and became prime screenplay source from those situations and individuals he encountered. From 1993-1994, his final year in the Marines, Demetrius was stationed in Yokosuka Japan, where he wrote articles published in the Marine base newspaper's Readers' Forum. Over the course of two years as a truck driver, Demetrius has carefully crafted his script, in addition to working on a few short stories. He just recently formed his own production/entertainment company; MaCaleb Enterprise LLc. During the course of his many career changes, Demetrius never lost his deep desire to write. He is hoping to secure financing so that he may possibly produce the full-feature film himself along with some of his other story ideas. This WGA-registered drama and behind-the-scenes scandal is tentatively titled "Scandal at Riverside High," inspired by true events and thoughtfully written to disguise actual identities and characters. Most recently, Demetrius played a small role in a movie, "Jericho", alongside legendary comedian George Wallace, veteran actress Irma P. Hall, and JoMarie Payton. Make no mistake, Demetrius Smith is one writer who can coax so much high drama and intrigue from the sleeper of a truck. Rest assured, however, there's no sleeping on Demetrius Smith's night shift.
