A Collection of Poems and Stories Inspired by School School Days with its thrill of learning, the bittersweet delight of the first school yard crush, and the increasingly tedious round of homework evokes a unique mix of exhilaration, expectation, and relief. The first six chapters of School Days is a collection of poems inspired by these nostalgic moments such as the wonder and heart break of young love, the thrill of passing an important mile marker, and the physical grind of pushing oneself to the mental limit to complete a seemingly impossible assignment. Chapters seven through nine are two stories inspired by school. The first story entitled Beware of the Wrath of Medeia, was a class assignment to rewrite the famous tale. And centers around the emotional trauma and turmoil of a woman who has given heart and life to her beloved Jason who, like in the tale of old, when a chance to improve his circumstances arises leaves her for the arms of another woman. The second story, entitled The Brief Romance of Katti B., which was inspired by the course work in English II, is the compelling story of an orphan girl who has fallen in love with the most eligible bachelor in town. But her love is complicated not so much by her impoverished standing, but by the sudden death of several family members which has caused her to be looked upon as a carrier of the plague of sudden death causing her to be feared and shunned by the frightened residents of Eastville.
Autorenporträt
Katherine B. Parilli stumbled upon her love of writing thanks in great part to her father who homeschooled her in the second and seventh grade. Blessed with a love of reading, but seemingly possessing no talent for writing, Katherine would virtually rewrite the book for her book report. Her Father, not content to have her rewrite the book for her reports, he insisted that she write, rewrite, and rewrite again and again until nearly in tears, she was finally able to write a few semi thoughtful sentences. It was in her first year of high school when this rigorous training suddenly blossomed into a love of writing everything from poetry and short stories, to novels and short research articles. Poetry From the Heart: Poems of Faith, a collection of faith based poems, was her first book to be published. From time to time she contributes some of her poems to the Make Time for Happy 101 blog as well as the Make Time for Happy You Tube channel. She also has her own You Tube Channel called Poetry From the Heart as well as writes a blog called Reflections about Life and KB Writes. In her spare time, Katherine enjoys spending time in the garden, making puzzles, and playing with her dog Happy.
