Teacher education and music teacher training comprise an issue in Turkey that has maintained its importance since the first years of the republic. The collaboration program of Faculty of Education & Schools of Practice is one of the activities carried out within the scope of program development of Ministry of National Education / Higher Educational Council Pre-Service Teacher Training Project. The function of training teachers was completely given to the teachers colleges outside of some exceptions and a reconstruction was started at these faculties that brought departments and programs which train teachers for the primary education to forefront by means of this study that was started by the Higher Education Council. The programs, which are finalized with the second study in 2006, are the programs that are being applied in the Fine Arts Education Departments of all Teachers Colleges in Turkey. School experience and teaching practices also constitute the basis of courses related to the field and field teaching which are also carried out in faculty-school cooperation.

Dr. Sibel Çoban is an associate Proffessor of Music Education. She is currently working in Atatürk Education Faculty, Department of Fine Arts at University of Marmara in stanbul. Dr. Çoban received her PhD from Marmara University. While doing PhD, she studied as a visiting student at Sheffield University Department of Music in England.
