Preparing students to be responsible citizens is considered by many in the U.S. to be the most important goal of public schools. The research paradigm used in this study was Mythical/Practical, which finds the researcher as participant/observer. The researcher not only affects the process but is affected by the interaction. That means the researcher has and will continue to incorporate what was learned from the excelling school into the current and future schools encountered on her journey as an administrator.

Bertha Ciaramello earned a BS at WCSU. She taught for 17 years in PA and AZ. She has also taught at ASU. Bertha received her MA and EdD from ASU. She studied Bi-national Education in Mexico City in 2001. In 2003, she studied Education in a Global Context at the University of London. She currently serves the DVUSD in Phoenix,AZ as a principal.
