On surveying the literature, focusing on the last decade, it was found that a considerable work dealing with the chemistry, uses, and applications of diaryl sulfides containing different hetero-cyclic and other organic moieties have been published. Diaryl sulfides is not only the key structural elements of the most widely employed class of antibacterial drugs, but also act as building blocks in certain polymers commonly used in moulding, coating, adhesive membranes, composite matrices, and engineering, thermoplastics.
