The programme was part of the country's need to internationalise higher education, with a view to reducing the gap between Brazil and high-income economies. Focusing on graduates from Australian universities, the first chapter shows the importance of the programme in the internationalisation process of Brazilian universities. The second and third chapters analyse the programme's performance. Eleven Australian and Latin American experts with different professional experiences were interviewed about the process of internationalising higher education. The final activity reports of 2,747 graduates were also analysed. The results showed that the programme projected Brazilian science and education internationally, and enabled important changes in the personal and academic lives of the students, who developed new skills and maintain contact with research and knowledge networks.
