Kaum eine Regung in der Online-Welt hat publizistisch in so kurzer Zeit einen derartig heftigen Niederschlag gefunden wie das Online-Spiel rund um ein virtuelles zweites Leben. Erst dominierte die Verwunderung über das neue Massenphänomen. Dann setzte eine gewisse Ermüdung ein, zumal nur ein Bruchteil der fünf Millionen eingeschriebenen Nutzer die Plattform tatsächlich nutzt und ihre menschenähnlichen Avatare auch bewegt. Und jetzt ist mehr von den Gefahren (Pädophile etc.) dieses Projektes die Rede als vom Spaß. In dieser Phase erscheint ein neues Handbuch zu Second Life. Es ist "Lehrer und Lexikon für die ersten Schritte in dieser vertrauten, fremden Welt", bedichtet der Verlag das Werk, das vom Second-Life-Schöpfer Linden Lab "offiziell autorisiert" worden ist. Wäre das Buch sechs Monate früher erschienen, wäre es vielleicht ein Bestseller geworden. Aber heute?
