Second Mahanadi Rail Bridge is a rail bridge over the Mahanadi near Cuttack in the Indian state of Orissa. The first Mahanadi Rail Bridge was opened on 1 January 1899. It had 64 spans of 100 feet each, on wells 19 ft 6 in. in diameter sunk to 60 ft below low water level. The 2.1 km long Second Mahanadi Rail Bridge built at a cost of Rs. 120 crore was commissioned in 2008. The bridge has been designed for a train speed of 160 km per hour. Adequate steps have been taken to withstand quake.
