Hypertension is one of the major health problems of mankind, whose impact is expected to increase over the next 20 years. According to World Health Organization, hypertension is the leading cause of mortality worldwide, responsible for 13.5% of all deceases in the world. If we consider the aetiology, in 85-90% of cases of hypertension no obvious cause is detected (essential hypertension) and only in 10-15% of patients we find an initial pathology, which complicates with hypertension (secondary hypertension).Although chronic renal disease and sleep apnea are the most common causes, adrenal pathology (pheochromocytoma, primary aldosteronism, Cushing's syndrome)is one of the special conditions (often under diagnosed) and can provide a challenge for the diagnosis and treatment of secondary hypertension. The intention of our study was to monitor a sample of patients with secondary hypertension of adrenal cause and to describe demographic, clinical, diagnosis and treatment features. Theusefulness of this work is primarily related to seeking a current characterization of this pathology in our country and also suggesting more complete initial exploration of each new case of hypertension.
