Autorenporträt
In 2008, the day after Miriam Wakerly retired, Gypsies Stop tHere was launched in Waterstones; then No Gypsies Served in 2010 and her third novel in 2012 Shades of Appley Green - A modern village novel, which is set in the same English village but has nothing to do with Gypsies. Now, in 2015 comes Secrets in Appley Green - A 1960s village novel. She lives in Surrey, England with her husband, now three adult children have flown the nest, and her fictional village, Appley Green, is like many nearby villages. Miriam has a BA degree in English, French, Sociology and Politics from the University of Leicester. In the 1980s she had magazine stories published regularly, as well as dozens of freelance feature articles in trade and consumer publications when running her own PR and marketing business. She made a decision to change direction and became a part-time Community Support Worker, a role that put her in close touch with many present-day social issues. She worked with teenage single mothers and people suffering from Parkinson's Disease. She has often been invited to speak on BBC Radio Surrey as well as other local radio stations and has also given talks to various groups of people. Her latest venture is running workshops 'So you Want to Write a Novel'. As the 5* reviews testify, her books are loved by readers.
