SECRETS IN WAX Patience Lovell Wright loved sculpting since childhood. She became well known in Bordentown, NJ, both as a sculptor and a leader in her Quaker faith. After the death of her husband she moved her family to New York and later to London to pursue her fortune as a wax sculptor. These were the years of revolution in the making, and this novel traces the journey of the Wright family through these turbulent times as seen through the eyes of Patience's teenage daughter Betsy. Betsy grows up during the revolution, changing in point of view as well as age. Her feelings and hopes will be recognizable to teens today. Although the family and many of their associates are 18th century Quakers, the dialogue in Secrets in Wax is in standard English for comfortable reading.
