A native of Shelby, North Carolina, Sintrel S. Simmons spent her career in the field of personnel security working for the Department of Justice and United States Marshals Service. After 38 years of service, she retired in 2005. Her passion for writing poetry has reached a pinnacle with the publication of her first book, Secrets of the Heart. When not writing, she spends her free time working with youth and doing volunteer work for the community.
