Stephen Amidon lebte fünfzehn Jahre in London, wo er als Journalist, Herausgeber und Kritiker tätig war. Nach seiner Rückkehr in die Vereinigten Staaten entstand "Traumstadt", sein hochgelobter Roman, mit dem er sich einen Platz in der ersten Reihe der jüngeren amerikanischen Autorengeneration erschrieb. Amidon lebt heute mit seiner Familie in Massachusetts.
