Dr. Warren W. Wiersbe beginnt das erste Werk dieser Auslegungsreihe des Alten Testaments mit voller Wucht! Es ist das erste Buch, das ich aus dieser Reihe lese und es hat mich gleich tief beeindruckt! Nicht nur die Fülle an Autoren, wie z.B. bekannte Theologen (Tozer, Augustin, Matthew Henry, Thomas von Kempen, …) oder auch nicht unbekannte andere Schriftsteller (Thoreau, Mencken, Steven Weinberg, …), die zu Wort kommen, ist beachtlich, sondern auch die professionelle Art ihre Aussagen in den eigenen roten Faden einzubauen, hat mich Kapitel für Kapitel zum Weiterlesen motiviert. Es ist nicht zu übersehen, dass der Autor die biblischen Texte gründlich studiert hat. Dabei hebt er aber nicht ab und beginnt das Theoretisieren, sondern es gelingt ihm, in seinem Schreibstil lebendig und anwendungsorientiert zu bleiben. Es scheint, als ob kein Satz zu viel ist und jeder Abschnitt lange durchdacht wurde.
Die Auslegung dieser einzelnen Textpassagen im Alten Testament wird immer in den Gesamtkontext der heiligen Schrift eingebettet, weil der Autor die Bibel mit der Bibel auslegt!
Ein paar Zitate (es ist sehr schwer sich hier auf nur einige zu beschränken!) seien hier noch aufgeführt:
Zum Schöpfungsbericht: „Sie wurde nicht aus seinem Haupt gebildet, als wäre sie die Herrscherin über ihn, noch wurde sie aus seinen Füßen gebildet, als könne er sie tyrannisieren. Vielmehr wurde sie als seinesgleichen aus seiner Rippe gebildet – unter seinen Armen, damit er sie schütze, und nahe seinem Herzen, damit er sie liebe. … denn wenn der Mann das Haupt ist … dann ist die Frau die Krone, die da Haupt ziert.“ (S. 44)
Zur richtigen Einstellung der Bibel gegenüber: „Der Gott, der uns erschaffen hat, weiß am besten, wie wir leben sollten. Wenn wir seine Ratschläge und Warnungen ignorieren, steuern wir auf Schwierigkeiten zu. Wer das eigene Leben ohne Gehorsam gegenüber seinem Wort bewältigen will, gleich einem Piloten, der ein Flugzeug führt, ohne zunächst die Bedienungsanweisungen gelesen und Flugunterricht genommen zu haben: Wir steuern auf einen Absturz zu! … Wir sollen den Vorschriften dieses Buches gehorchen, den Verheißungen glauben und seinen Prinzipien verstehen.“ (S. 59)
Zum menschlichen Grundproblem des Stolzes, der Arroganz und Überheblichkeit: „Doch in der Schrift versinnbildlicht Babylon weltlichen Hochmut, moralische Verkommenheit und Auflehnung gegen Gott. … „Jede Generation baut ihre eigenen Türme“ … „Wir wollen uns einen Namen machen.“ Wir können als Angehörige des Volkes Gottes nicht aus der Welt fliehen, weil wir in der Welt unseren Dienst ausüben sollen, doch wir dürfen nicht von der Welt sein. Wir befinden uns nicht hier, um Türme menschlicher Überheblichkeit zu errichten, sondern sollen vielmehr mithelfen, die Gemeinde Jesu Christi zu bauen.“ (S. 147)
Die Fragen am Ende des Buches zu jedem Kapitel laden zur Verwendung dieses Bibelkommentars in einem Bibelgesprächskreis ein. Auch die weiterführenden Anmerkungen auf den letzten Seiten dieses Werkes, habe ich als wertvolle Weiterführung und Ergänzung empfunden. Ich freue mich schon, noch weitere Bücher aus dieser Auslegungsreihe zum AT zu lesen!
