In observing the D.R. Congo, one of the major problems is the earthquake. The seismic activities of this country are concentrated in its eastern part. This book aims to offer a comprehensive scheme of the seismic activity of the DR Congo area on the basis of data collected by several scientific agencies from 1910 through 2010. The spatial distribution of epicenters, the pattern of tension axes related to major earthquakes, the spreading of epicenters in new seismic Congo map and the focal mechanisms, within the Congo craton are discussed for 100 years. The final objective of this study is to trace the apparent relationship between the seismicity and the geodynamics of the East African rift zone. The distribution of epicenters and the trends of tension axes as well show a good correlation with the identified tectonic lines in this rift zone. The normal faulting of major tectonic lines are conformed to the chats of focal mechanisms. In addition, this work will help the reader such as geologist, geophysicist or other geoscientist, to understand how to build the chat of focal mechanism in order to make comparison to computed focal mechanisms because they do not use shading.
