India lives in her villages. Majority of the population live in rural area where adequate formal medical facilities are not available. With the increasing cost of treatment through allopathic science and adverse effect of synthetic drugs people all over the world are looking to medicinal plants for their health needs. The book described in detail the medicinal uses of 65 plants under 47 genera belonging to 58 families used by the rural people of Bhopal in treating various diseases. All the plants have been described with their scientific names, taxonomical description, synonyms, common name, local name, habit, flowering and fruiting period and medicinal uses. Photographs of each species are also provided. This book will serve an important tool in the identification of local flora of the area and will help ecologists and conservation scientists to derive conservation policies for the sustainable use of plant resource in the country.
