This book emerges from our vision regarding cognitive justice which has been the key idea behind this book. This book is a compilation of selected papers out of an International Conference on Demography, Culture, and Marketing which was held at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar in the year 2010. The underlying idea behind this book has been to explore the issues which are related to different forms of inequalities. Inequality has always been a main concern in the debate of welfare and development. We hope that this book has been able to capture some of the related issues that will provide a meaning to the discussion on inequalities. To sum up, the book is a compilation of papers highlighting social issues ranging from land acquisition, indigenous medicine, to gender and religious discrimination. This book is a humble incremental effort to understand these problems in Indian socio-cultural context.
