Thomas Ernest Hulme was an English writer who, during his informal tenure as a critic for The New Age, exerted a notable influence on English Modernism. Patrick McGuinness is a fellow at St. Anne's College, University of Oxford. He is the author of Maurice Maeterlinck and the Making of Modern Theatre and Symbolism, Decadence and the fin de siècle.
