Industry research has indicated there are specific criteria to consider for selecting sustainable energy methods, particularly for renewable energy technologies in Africa. Within this book, consideration is given to renewable energy methods for generating power in South Africa from varying viewpoints such as political, social, technical, economic and environmental criteria. With the aid of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), this particular book will elaborate on how to select and prioritize various renewable energy technologies for power generation. Through data acquisition on renewable resources the potential for electricity generation was accessed, along with the review of relevant scholarly literature and expert opinion; an appropriate decision model has been established, consisting of goal, criteria, sub-criteria and appropriate alternatives.
