Interpersonal relationships are vital for church planting and growth. Such relationships thrive or otherwise may not be based on the aspect of self-disclosure. As we shall explore the social-penetration theory by Altman and Taylor, the deeper our relationships become, the higher the chances of breaking or binding. There is therefore the need for intentional development and nurture of such relationships, and especially between pastors and congregants, who seek to propel their churches to spiritual and also numerical growth, through the help of the Holy Spirit.
