This handbook gives a complete and detailed survey of the field of semiconductor physics. It addresses every fundamental principle, the most important research topics and results, as well as conventional and emerging new areas of application. Additionally it provides all essential reference material on crystalline bulk, low-dimensional, and amorphous semiconductors, including valuable data on their optical, transport, and dynamic properties. This updated and extended second edition includes essential coverage of rapidly advancing areas in semiconductor physics, such as topological insulators, quantum optics, magnetic nanostructures and spintronic systems. Richly illustrated and authored by a duo of internationally acclaimed experts in solar energy and semiconductor physics, this handbook delivers in-depth treatment of the field, reflecting a combined experience spanning several decades as both researchers and educators. Offering a unique perspective on many issues, SemiconductorPhysics is an invaluable reference for physicists, materials scientists and engineers throughout academia and industry.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.

Autorenporträt
Dr. mult. Karl Wolfgang Böer was distinguished professor of physics and solar energy, and fellow of AAAS, APS, ASES, and IEEE. Over five decades, he gave classes in solid state and semiconductor physics at the Humboldt University and the University of Delaware and gave keynote addresses at numerous international conferences. In his research, he was the first in measuring the Franz-Keldysh effect, discovered high-field domains, the condensation of excitons, and numerous properties of cadmium sulfide. He published 380 papers, 14 monographs, was editor of 23 international conference proceedings and obtained 18 patents. He created Physica Status Solidi in 1960 and the Series Advances in Solar Energy in 1978. He obtained highest honors from the University of Delaware, the American Solar Energy Society, and the International Solar Energy Society. The University of Delaware issued the prestigious solar energy award in his name that is given biannually to one of the world's leaders in solar energy research and industry. Karl Wolfgang Böer passed away aged 92 on April 18, 2018, shortly after the publication of the first edition of Semiconductor Physics. Dr. rer. nat. Udo W. Pohl, professor of experimental physics, studied physics in Aachen and Berlin, Germany, and received his Ph.D. degree in 1988 from the Technical University of Berlin, where he was principal investigator in the Institute of Solid State Physics and retired end 2020. He is a member of the German Physical Society, participated in international conference committees, and has given keynote addresses at international conferences. Since the early 1990s, he has given lectures on semiconductor physics and epitaxy. In 2009 he was appointed Adjunct Professor of Physics at the Technical University of Berlin. He is series editor of Materials Sciences, has authored over 200 journal articles and conference papers, the monograph Epitaxy of Semiconductors, 13 book contributions, and patents. His research interests include physics and epitaxy of semi-conductor nanostructures and devices
