The NMT proposes that this can be done through the use of sensorimotor activities, such as drumming, that are performed in a bilateral, repetitive manner. The study incorporated the principles of NMT in interventions with children who experienced complex trauma. Following the intervention, significant results were found, including improvements in positive behavior and emotional regulation.

Lauren Hansen received her Bachelor of Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University in May of 2011. She graduated Cum Laude, with Research Honors for her thesis. She currently attends University of Indianapolis, where she is enrolled in their Doctorate of Psychology, Clinical Psychology program. She plans to graduate in May of 2017.
