Herpes Simplex viruses are among the most common viral infections of human worldwide. These viruses can cause different diseases such as:Encephalitis, Genital herpes and Neonatal herpes. HSV-2 is of public health importance because it is as an important co-factor for HIV infection. Serological studies can measure both symptomatic and asymptomatic infections. Seropositivity is a potential indicator of infectivity and can be used to guide and reform behavioral patterns for prevention of HSV transmission. A clear understanding of epidemiology of HSV in different populations is required to develope the most effective, appropriate preventive and control strategies.
