Vehicles are a perfect frame for providing many novel services. However, a suitable on-board hardware and software support compliant with market and user demands is necessary. The onboard software architecture presented in the book covers this issue and acts as the basis for the rest of proposals presented in the work. The integration of telematics and vehicular communications in next generation cars will turn the provision of contextual information into the cornerstone of vehicular services. Current solutions do not present an integral networking architecture for this aim, but the proposal presented in this book deals with the notification, storage, management and provision of context-aware information. Moreover, due to positioning requirements of these new services are growing, a navigation unit around Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) has been designed, improving common accuracy, availability, continuity and integrity performances. Apart from system design, real prototypes and implementations of the platform are presented. This test-bed has also been used to perform experimental evaluations, which demonstrate the suitability of the platform.
