Staff Perception of How Learning Disability and Palliative Care Services can Work Together

This research, though small, provide awareness and highlight the views, opinions and feelings of staff working in palliative care and learning disability services. By using focus groups and individual interviews they were able to share their experiences and discuss ways in which both services can work together to improve palliative care for people with learning disabilities. With specialist knowledge, skills and experiences, staff working in both services can provide robust and collaborative working to enhance good quality service for people with learning disabilities who need palliative care.

Mi interés en el duelo y la discapacidad de aprendizaje comenzó en 1988. Como enfermera, me entrené en el duelo, organicé sesiones de entrenamiento e hice presentaciones en varios lugares. Mi interés creció hasta llegar a los cuidados paliativos para este grupo y fue uno de los miembros de la Red Nacional de Cuidados Paliativos para Personas con Discapacidades de Aprendizaje.
