This study was carried out in a private slimming centre with fifty samples.Purposive sampling technique was adopted. The inclusive criteria for selecting the samples were those of whom with BMI 25 and above. A questionnaire was used to assess the family details,dietary pattern and life style practices.All reliable methods were followed to measure the body composition.The principle of slimming in the selected centre was Negative Calorie Balance.This includes dietary modification, use of passive activity appliances and modification in physical activity patterns.The exposure to slimming intervention was for two months. A sub-sample of twenty with highest grade of obesity were chosen,and biochemical tests like lipid profile, blood sugar,thyroid,liver function and oestrogen tests were done based on the severity of obesity.The BMI and WHR had reduced significantly after the completion of the intervention package. The biochemical parameters like bilirubin,albumin, globulin,Total T3,Total T4,TSH and oestrogen level were found to be significant.A strong association was found between waist hip ratio and number of meals consumed in a day.
