This book on a topic as old as life itself, awaits authorship by an expert. That would be you. You are the only person, living, dead, or yet to be born, who has experienced sex in the ways that you have thought about, have experienced, or are considering doing. Sex As . . . invites you to create a written, pictorial, and/or collage journal of your sexual life, to be shared with others or not. You will be able to respond to phrases such as: Sex as Love, Sex as Fear, Sex as Healing. The author does not attempt to provide answers or advice. The book is not research, not a 'how-to' book, not a psychological/philosophical/theological volume on sex. Those excellent works can be found in libraries and bookstores. The themed blank pages invite you to tell your truth about this complex reality. As you do so, you may thereby gain new knowledge and freedom.

Autorenporträt
Jeff DeVore, certified Life Coach, retired chiropractor, and retired Christian minister, always wondered what was really going on. His family of origin, like all families, had its own quirks, and Jeff's innate curiosity silently pondered, "What's this about?" Blunt questions from four-year-olds were not encouraged, and Jeff kept his questions to himself.Fascinated by his stirrings of puberty and unfamiliar sexual urges, Jeff again wondered. What exactly is going on here? At age eleven, Jeff posted a note on the family bulletin board, "What does the man have to do with having a baby?" His dad, a chiropractor, gave him a factual, non-shaming, Sex Ed 101 lecture, complete with textbook drawings. Jeff didn't mention his mysterious and frightening attraction to his male classmates. He suppressed his curiosity about becoming a sex therapist (true Christian people don't need psychologists, he was told), tucked his questions and desires away, and pursued classical piano. He married a woman with whom he had three children, became a chiropractor (private practice and clinical educator for 29 years), and an ordained Christian minister (pastoral work for nine years). After 19 years of marriage, he came out of the closet as a gay man, was divorced, and got on with life. Drawing on six decades of wondering, "What is really going on here?" Jeff invites you to discover your own answers to that question as it relates to your sexuality. You are the expert on your sex life, as detailed in the Introduction. As you respond to the pages, may you step into more deeply satisfying love, joy, peace, and yes, sex.
