Politeness is a central concept in linguistic pragmatics and it is one of the most relevant, but complex aspects of human communication because it varies with culture and context. In communication, discourse participants need to apply this phenomenon to build an emotional and social harmony when they interact with others in order to achieve their goals and wants by maintaining their interlocutor's public reputation. This book therefore reveals that men/women in Cameroon's print media apply the politeness strategies in their interviews, with the men frequently using these strategies than the women. The analysis should aid in better understanding and assists journalists in the media to reach better decisions during interviews. Moreover, understanding the different polite communication patterns which women and men typically use makes it possible to understand the potential individual private cross-sex miscommunications and to achieve effective communication.
