Over the past three decades, the perception of sexual violence has changed considerably. It is now recognized that men and boys are victims of sexual violence. Sylvie Ekanga Lumumba ist Forscherin im Bereich Soziologie (sexuelle Gewalt). Nach ihrer ersten Studie, in der sie verschiedene Aspekte von Frauen analysierte, die in der Stadt Bukavu, DRK, Opfer sexueller Gewalt wurden (Bachelorarbeit), konzentriert sie sich in ihrer Forschung auf das Paradoxon der sexuellen Gewalt gegen Männer und Jungen.
