Raised in upper-class Black privilege and not accustomed to the word "no" Fatima Antionette Crosby is a dogmatic "tell-it-like-it-is" young business professional who is the unlikely candidate for a happy ending. With a deceased whoremonger father, fragile socialite mother, and broken gay brother, Fatima lives her life in singularity making decisions hap-hazardously with no regard to others. Very decided on how life should be lived, she possesses acute opinions on race, sexuality, and womanhood. Going against the grain of what she defines as Black Love, Fatima becomes engaged to a white, southern Christian, Larry Martin. Through her interactions with Larry, Fatima redefines her views on religion, race, and relationships. Weeks before their wedding, Fatima receives devastating news that shatters her self-image and sense of womanhood. While disconnecting from others, Fatima searches for the only person who can save her life.
