With extensive experience in college administration, recruiting, and student retention, Dr. Essah-Hienwo focuses his research on the hidden journey of Black male student success and how educators and institutions can offer better support. His work is widely cited and recognized for its significant impact on education policy and practice, making him a leading voice in student retention and equity. Dr. Essah-Hienwo is married to Wendy Essah-Hienwo, a Health Informatics Analyst, and together they have four children: Shantel, Michael Sam, Jesse-Jared, and Jazmine.
