Cable bolts are flexible tendons composed of multi-wire strand which are normally used together with rock bolts in reinforcing rock masses. Cable bolts function by applying compressive force and shear-resistance to rock masses and rock joints, thereby enhancing the integrity and stability of the reinforced rock body. This book mainly covers the second part of cable bolt reinforcement, i.e. the shear resistance characteristics, which plays a significant role but is normally ignored by researchers and engineers in the reinforcement scheme design. This book can be used as a supplement to cable bolting technology and thus to improve the accuracy and reliability of rock reinforcement scheme.
