High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Sherwood H. Hallman (October 29, 1913 ? September 14, 1944) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration?the Medal of Honor?for his actions in World War II. Hallman joined the Army from his birth place of Spring City, Pennsylvania, and by September 13, 1944 was serving as a Staff Sergeant in the 175th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division. On that day, in Brest, France, he single-handedly attacked and captured a German position, prompting the surrender of other German forces in the area. He was killed in action the next day and, on April 17, 1945, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Hallman, aged 30 at his death, was buried at the Brittany American Cemetery in Saint-James, France.
