Several pre and post emergence insecticides that have been recommended for the control of shootfly. Since, the pest is restricted to seedling stage, it may not be feasible for many farmers to strictly adhere for spray schedule on time, mainly due to low economic returns from this crop, as they are costly and cumbersome and it is a limiting factor to farmers. It is also inevitable to know the best suitable insecticides against this insect pest. Keeping all these back drops in focus, the studies pertaining to pre and post emergence control measures for shootfly incidence and its influence on seed yield and quality of little millet were made. Among the pre and post emergence control measures for shootfly incidence, seed treatment with imidacloprid 600 FS @ 5 ml/kg of seed (T2) was most effective in controlling shootfly incidence by recording least dead hearts per cent with highest seed yield. Higher seed quality parameters were also noticed with higher benefit cost ratio and this was followed by spray treatment with imidacloprid 200 SL @ 0.2 ml/l (T8).
