Sickle cell anaemia patients have been known to be attended by medical physician for a long time. Sickle cells have been found not to affect only liver, spleen, lungs or brain but also have paramount effects on Musculoskeletal system. Avascular necrosis of femur and humerus, spine osteonecrosis, osteomyelitis, leg ulcers and pathological fractures are amongst few complications due to sickle cell anaemia. Orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapist have found a central chair at the sickle cell anaemia clinic and hospitals.
