Their special friendship developed after they discovered they both had psychic powers: they can read minds, and ghosts talk to them. Their ghost friends help them deal with bullies and solve mysteries. In Book 4, dreams provide clues to solving two different mysteries. And when Sonny and Breanne are locked in a burning room, their only hope of getting out is the ghost of a five-year-old boy who is deaf.
