Volume 2 is Silent Cries in the Mountains and Volume 3 is Lost Spirit in the Mountains. (About the Author) Linda Sloan and John R. Sloan both grew up on farms in New Jersey. Says Linda, "My husband's family had dairy cattle, and I raised Finn Sheep. We lived in Maryland on our sailboat while my husband was a security consultant for various government agencies in the metropolitan D.C. area. We now live on a small self-sufficient farm in the Sauratown Mountains of North Carolina." Both retired, Linda was a nurse for thirty years. John is a Vietnam veteran who retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years before he became a government consultant.

Linda Sloan and her husband John R. Sloan both grew up in New Jersey. John was a Marine, spending 22-1/2 years in the USMC, including serving in Vietnam. He then worked as a government consultant until retirement. Linda was a nurse in New Jersey and North Carolina, working in labor and delivery, psychiatric hospitals, and with the New Jersey Prison System for both male and female prisons. She retired after 30 years. The couple lived on their sailboat for six years before returning to their farm in the Sauratown Mountains of North Carolina, where they raise chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, heritage pigs, and Jersey cows.
