The purpose of this book is to discuss the major aspects of the use of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) in pediatric dentistry .SDF's efficacy is reported based on current scientific evidence from laboratory and clinical studies, with a focus on its effect on enamel and dentin remineralization and caries prevention. Parental and professional acceptance of tooth staining is discussed, as well as the use of potassium iodide as a possible alternative to manage this side-effect.The most recent clinical guidelines for the use of SDF as a non-restorative treatment for carious lesion provide insight into its clinical application. Given all of the evidence, it is clear that the SDF is a simple and effective treatment for preventing the progression of dental caries in children.
