Nanoparticles (NPs) are the ultrafine particles between 1 to 100 nm in size. One nm is equal to one billionth of a meter. In nanotechnology, a particle is defined as a smaller object which behaves as the whole unit and exhibits a variety of physical and chemical properties. This shows the wide-ranging variety of potential applications in optical, electronic and biomedical field. Silver, in that case, have a special place in science and technology and are becoming a rising star because of the high potential in a broad range of biological applications more particularly in the form of NPs. In this regard, some of the most relevant and widely used synthetic routes available for the preparation of metallic AgNPs with their properties and applications has been discussed.
