In pursuit of her passion, Fran went to work for The Needlecraft Shop, Ltd. at the age of 18. Not only did this publishing division provide the opportunity to further expand Fran's sewing skills, it cultivated a professional presence for her in the industry. She designed over 50 needlecraft project books. In 2000, Fran also became the developing editor for Sewing Savvy magazine. She began experimenting with faux chenille techniques and found an easy method for replacing the look and feel.
