Phil offers significant experience as an executive in medium sized and large multi-national technology companies in both the UK and the USA. His work took him to all regions across the globe, working with many different companies and cultures. During this tenure Phil encountered many pivots that involved mergers and acquisitions, through to disruption and inflection points, which impacted businesses success. What Phil realized over time is that most companies looked at how specific forces were impacting their business, and how tunneled vision strategies, would concentrate on addressing those specific impacts, instead of reviewing the systemic make up of their organizations crown jewels and treasures, in resources and capabilities. Thus many of these strategies didn't fully come to the fruition that businesses wanted to achieve, Strategies fell short of expectations, time and money were expended, staff became discouraged and faith in the planning process and leadership became strained. Phil began to research the problem and generated a simpler strategic planning based on systems thinking that would help businesses in collecting data on attributes, not only from within the business, but also on the market forces challenging that business. The subsequent strategic model he offers enables an organization to build valued strategic plans that are actionable and can be successfully implemented. This flexibility extends to any organization established for any purpose, public or private, of any size, in any industry. Phil earned his Masters from the University of Liverpool, UK, in International Business and wrote his dissertation on "Formal and Informal institutions and their affects on international business". He gained certificates from Cornell University on Achieving Competitive Advantage and Measuring and Improving Business Performance, and he is certified from Harvard Business School on Disruptive Strategy.
